Proposal Guidelines

Proposals should be approximately one to two pages double-spaced and should include a proposed title for the presentation and the number of presenters.

As space and time are somewhat limited, a panel or reading featuring more than one speaker/reader will most likely have a better chance than one featuring only yourself.

Panels and readings will last approximately 90 minutes and should be limited to no more than five panelists/speakers including the moderator.  Your panel will only be accepted if panelists have already accepted your invitation.

The more specific your proposal the better.  Give us an idea of each panelist or reader’s contribution as well as brief bios of yourself and other panelists.

Please e-mail all proposals by April 15th, 2005, to Nonfiction-now@uiowa.edu.  Successful proposals will be announced as soon as possible thereafter.

Current graduate students enrolled in creative writing programs are also invited to submit essays up to five thousand words (one essay per applicant please).  The essays can be of any type and will be judged for literary merit.  Three winning essays will be chosen and their authors will each win a $1000 fellowship for the Conference.

Please send essays to:
